Indian Entrepreneur Detained at US Airport Over Power Bank – Shruti Chaturvedi Shares Her Shocking Experience|

A heartbreaking incident has come to light where Shruti Chaturvedi, a well known Indian entrepreneur, had to wait for 8 hours at Alaska airport in the US. She only had to run with a power bank. And that too without any charge. Shruti shared her entire experience on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), in which she has accused the US authorities of racial profiling.
If you got a power bank, then you thought you were a terrorist?
Shruti wrote: “Imagine that the police and FBI keep you in custody for 8 hours, ask random questions, a male officer frisks your body – in front of the camera, without any female officer, take your phone, keep you in a cold room without a sweater and don’t let you make even a single call – just because a power bank was found in your carry on bag.”
Who says – I didn’t have to imagine all this, I actually saw all this.
They took the luggage as well, gave me the duffle bag
Shruti told that when she and her friend were let go after 8 hours, even then their real bags were not given to them. Just caught a “frivolous duffle bag”.
“They didn’t say anything, still they didn’t return my original bag. Indians really feel powerless when they go out.” Shruti wrote.
They followed TSA rules – still this treatment?
Shruti clarified that the power bank was in her carry-on bag – as written in TSA (Transportation Security Administration) rules. Still she was treated as if she had done something illegal.
Social Media Reactions and Political Tag
Shruti tagged Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and MEA in her post, hinting that this issue should be raised at the international level.
Bigger Issue: Racial Profiling & Mistreatment
This incident highlights a bigger problem – where Indians travelling abroad are treated with extra suspicion, especially in the US. There have been reports earlier as well where Indian travellers have been deported in shackles, or have been subjected to inhuman treatment.
