Yusuf Pathan’s tea and Murshidabad’s tension – right vibes at the wrong time|

Violent protests are taking place in Murshidabad, West Bengal over the Waqf Act. People are on the verge of collapse, news of breaking and violence is coming in. In the meantime, an Instagram post by Trinamool Congress MP and former cricketer Yusuf Pathan has created a ruckus on social media.
Was the timing of the Insta post wrong?
Two days ago, Yusuf Pathan posted 3 pictures on Instagram with the caption: “Easy afternoons, good tea and calm surroundings. Just soaking in the moment”. Immediately after this, people started trolling him on social media.
Many users asked: “Are you not ashamed?”. People say that when people are getting killed in Murshidabad, it is not right for an MP to be in such a “chill mode” even if the violence does not take place directly in his constituency.
What is happening in Murshidabad?
The protest against the Waqf Act turned violent. 3 people have died. And the Calcutta High Court said that central forces will have to be sent.
The High Court said: “We cannot close our eyes when people’s safety is at risk.”
BJP and Opposition Attack
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla targeted both Yusuf Pathan and Mamata Banerjee and wrote on Twitter: “Bengal is burning… Police is silent, Mamata ji is encouraging protected violence…. And MP Yusuf Pathan is drinking tea and “soaking the moment”.
Yusuf Pathan’s area and reality
Yusuf Pathan is the MP from Bahrampur which is a part of Murshidabad district. Suti Dhuli and Samserganj where violence is taking place are 80 km away from his area. These areas are represented by other MPs, like Isha Khan Choudhury (Congress) and Khalilur Rahman (TMC).
Cricketer to Neta – Yusuf Pathan’s Political Entry
Yusuf Pathan defeated 5-time MP Adhir Rajan Chowdhury, Congress, in 2024. So the question arose that why did a person from Baroda, Gujarat become an MP from Bengal?
Yusuf Pathan has not given any official reaction on this matter till now.
