Raja Raghuvanshi – The Youngest Son of a Shareef Family

Raja Raghuvanshi, the youngest among three brothers, was part of an intelligent and cultured joint family. He lived in Sahkar Nagar, Indore, and was managing the family’s transport business – Raghuvanshi Transport, which gives school and coaching buses on rent, since 22007.

Raja was hardworking, responsible and also prepared for marriage. He got married to Sonam Raghuvanshi on 11 May 20025, only 12 days later, his body was found in the jungles of Meghalaya. Machete wounds on the head, mobile switched off and no call records.

Sonam Raghuvanshi – Business Minded or the Master of a Bloody Game?

Started with a booklet – and marriage in secret

Sonam and Raja met through Samaj Parichay Pustika, a traditional booklet in which profiles of eligible girls are printed, especially during Ram Navami. Names of both appeared in the booklet on October 1, 2024. There was no personal contact, everything was arranged through the family. Raja’s mother Uma Raghuvanshi says – everything was arranged, there was no love affair, no secret plan. What I saw was not true. There was something else to be said.

Marriage, Honeymoon… and then Death

Marriage took place on 11 May, on 20 May the couple left for Meghalaya for honeymoon. Only a dead body returned. On 23 May Raja’s body was found in a gorge (ghat) – there were machete marks on his head. His phone was switched off, call records were clean and Sonam was missing. During investigation it came to light that it was a premeditated murder. Was marriage an excuse? There was a complete plan. Raj and Sonam together hired contract killers. Now both have been arrested. Raj Kushwaha’s digital records are being forensically investigated. The Raghuvanshi family is in the news. And everyone has the same question: Was this love? Or a bloody plan?
