Saturday night’s match turned out to be a dream night for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) fans. You star Abhishek Sharma wrote his name in the IPL records book by scoring a century in just 40 balls. This was the 27th match of IPL 2025 and the opponent was Punjab Kings (PBKS). Stadium Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad – and the atmosphere was full of excitement.

Century in only 40 balls – What a thing

SRH had to chase a huge target of 246. But it was Abshek Sharma who changed the entire mood of the match. He rained sixes and fours and left the PBKS bowlers speechless. Abhishek scored 100 runs in just 40 balls. This century was the 5th fastest in IPL history. For SRH, it is the 2nd fastest century – the first one is by Travish Head in 39 balls.

Kavya Maran’s epic reaction

As soon as Abhishek completed his century, SRH co-owner Kavya Maran literally started jumping in happiness. Then she went and hugged Abhishek’s parents. It was an emotional moment for Kavya Maran.

Barish of Records:

Abhishek Sharma’s career best 141 runs in 55 balls. The biggest individual score for SRH – which broke David Warner’s record of 131 runs. The biggest IPL score by an Indian player.

Travis Head also shone

Opening partner Travis Head also scored his second half century of this season in 31 balls. SRH scored 147 runs in just 10.2 overs, meaning they were batting at a higher level.

IPL’s fastest centuries (Top 3):

Chris Gayle made centuries in 30 balls against the Pune Warriors in 2013. Travis Head made centuries in 39 balls against RCB in 2024, and Abhishek Sharma made centuries in 40 balls against PBKS in 2025.

Is SRH becoming the most dangerous team of IPL 2025?

The combo of Head and Abhishek looks quite destructive at the top. If the form of these two continues then it will be very tough for the opponents to stop SRH.
