Bazooka Movie Review: Gaming Thriller or Star Fan-Service Fail|

Have you ever seen a movie that is filled with background music and slow motion scenes from beginning to end, but there is nothing special in the story? Bazooka, Deeno Dennis’s directional debut, is such a movie.

The premise of the film seems interesting. A forensic expert helps the police to catch a dangerous criminal. The criminal leaves some cryptic clues before every heist. Sounds good. But the idea looks good only on paper.

Plot or confusion?

John Caesar is traveling in a bus, where he has random conversations with his noisy neighbor who plays games loudly. Amidst these boring things our hero deciphers some clues. But his way of writing is so weak that it does not arouse interest.

The police investigation scenes are even more cringe-worthy. At one moment when ACP Gautam Vasudev tells Menon that the mastermind could be a psycho, the ACP makes a serious face and says, “Let’s not glorify him.” Meaning.. really?

Background music every time?

In the entire film the background score is so over the top that it seems something big is going to happen in every scene, but nothing happens. Whether it is Mammootty standing at a bus stop or in some minor action, the music plays every time.
Same background music at the entry of ACP. It seems as if the movie has been made so that one can whistle at every superstar movement.

Action Scenes Without Logic

Some random bike gang fights have also been added which have nothing to do with the story. Only to show Mammootty’s action image. Seeing all this it seems that in the name of fan service the movie has done disservice to the actual fans.

Gaming Thriller? Where?

The movie has been called a “gaming thriller” just because people are seen playing games, that’s all. There is no game logic, no thrill, the gameplay of this movie is not seen anywhere.
