Captain Cool’s return.. but the dream was shattered|

Captain Cool” – a fan’s placard was shining in the stadium of Chepauk when MS Dhoni stepped on the pitch. This was a dream moment for the fans – a hope for the comeback of their hero in this crazy season. But what happened broke the hearts of the fans. Neither Dhoni’s magic worked nor CSK’s guts, and Chepauk, where the whistles used to ring earlier, now there was only silence.
Start of the match – won the toss, but that’s it
CSK won the toss and chose to bat first, which was perfect for CSK, because the pitch was going to be slow. Debutant Anshul Kamboj got a chance to bat first, and Got a chance too. But as soon as the match started, KKR changed the story of the whole match.
Moeen Ali’s brilliance (this time for KKR)
CSK’s ex-player Moeen Ali set the mood of the match by dismissing Devon Conway in the beginning. One wicket – maiden over – this happened only the second time against CSK. After that Rahul Tripathi got another chance, but his form is still not with him. Just 18 runs in 5 overs – CSK’s powerplay flopped again. A voice came from the stadium – “Bhai, hit something” – but nothing much happened. Only Vijay Shankar increased the pace for a while, but he too got out soon.
Batting Order Collapse – One Out after Another
Tripathi bowled a very slow innings and Sunil Narine finished his game. Ashwin was promoted to tackle the spin, but got out for just 1 run. Impact Player Deepak Hooda – got out without scoring.
And then, the score was 72/7.
Dhoni’s last hope – but who also left
As soon as Dhoni came, the stadium was standing in excitement and clapping. This was not just nostalgia, it was hope – that Dhoni will do something. But in front were Narine and Chakravarthy – both have a strong record against Dhoni. And then Dhoni got out, then there was a silence in Chepauk.
The records were broken, and so was CSK.
CSK hit only 1 six in the entire innings. KKR hit more sixes than CSK in just 1.1 overs, and KKR finished the match 59 balls earlier. This was CSK’s 5th consecutive defeat, out of which 3 were at home.
A start which seemed like a dream, now turned into pain.
This match was a reminder that in cricket, just name is not enough, order and pace matter. With Dhoni’s return, fans were expecting them to win the match, but KK broke everything – records and Chepauk’s confidence. After this, it has become even more difficult for CSK to bounce back. But fans’ love and support are still with them.
