Dire Wolves came back after 12,500 years – Science did wonders|

What would happen if extinct animals came back? This is no longer just an idea of science fiction. An American company Colossal Biosciences has brought back one such extinct animal – Dire Wolf.
Meet Romulus and Remus – 2 new dire wolf puppies
Dire wolf, an ancient and powerful predator, which became extinct 12,500 years ago, has now been brought back to life with the help of science. The two puppies – Romulus and Remus – are now only 6 months old, but their size is already 4 feet long and weight is more than 36 kg.
How to bring back the dire wolves?
This experiment was successful with a mix of DNA cloning, gene editing and ancient DNA.
Scientists used the DNA of the gray wolf (its closest living relative).
DNA was taken from the 13,000 year old teeth and 72,000 year old skull of an old dire wolf.
All this sounds like a stupid sci-fi movie, but it is true.
Game Of Thrones Fans, Listen
If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, then you will remember the dire wolves – loyal companions of Jon Snow and the rest of the Stark kids. Seeing them, Colossal also aroused the interest of people.
They are puppies, but still wild in nature
Romulus and Remus are healthy, but not like normal puppies:
When a human comes near, they run away.
They are not too close to their handler either.
Scientists say they show the nature of the original dire wolves – solitary and cautious.
Where are these dire wolves living?
These wolves are kept in a secret location of 2,000 acres:
10-foot high fencing
Monitoring drones, cameras, and security staff
Total 3 pupae – 2 males (Romulus & Remus, born Oct 1, 2024) and 1 female (born Jan 30, 2025)
Will other extinct animals come back?
The Colossal company does not want to stop just like this:
Woolly Mammoth
Dodo
Tasmanian Tiger
Efforts are being made to bring all of these back as well. Even Elon Musk reacted to this by writing on Twitter: “Please make a miniature pet woolly mammoth.”
The future of science is here
Colossal CEO Ben Lamm said: “This is just the beginning – there will be more examples of bringing back extinct species.”
