Early Life – Childhood and Education
Elon was born on 28 June 1971 in Pretoria, South Africa. His father Errol Musk was an engineer and mother Maye Musk was a model and dietitian. Elon was crazy about computers since childhood. At the age of only 12, he programmed and sold his first video game Blaster. At the age of 17, Musk moved to Canada and took admission in Queen’s University. Later he shifted to University of Pennsylvania where he got degree in Physics and Economics.
Zip2 & PayPal – First Startup Journey
In 1995, Elon left PhD course of Stanford University after only 2 days, because he wanted to start a startup. Together with his brother, he created Zip2, an online city guide company, which was later bought by Compaq for $307 million. And then Elon created X.com, which later merged to form PayPal. In 2002, eBay bought PayPal for $1.5 billion, in which Elon got $180 million.
Tesla Motors – Revolution of Electric Cars
- In 2004, Elon Musk joined Tesla Motors as a chairman, and later became the CEO. Tesla showed the world that electric cars are not boring but can be powerful and stylish.
