Where to watch the Andorra national football team vs England national football team?
Dan Burn,
England’s match on Saturday was against Andorra – a team which is ranked 173rd in the world. And yet, England won by just one goal, that too in a game where their performance disappointed the fans.
Fans in the Barcelona stadium booed the England team when the match ended. Harry Kane scored his 72nd international goal, and that was the only goal that saved England from embarrassment. Otherwise, just think – how great it would have been to not have won against Andorra in the World Cup qualifiers!
England’s new coach, Thomas Tuchel, who has so far won his first three competitive games without conceding a goal, also openly said, “I am not happy with the performance. We lost the momentum and could not bring it back. The team’s attitude in the last 20 minutes was absolutely not up to the match level.”
He was clearly disappointed. And if we are to be honest, the fans too.
England is now leading Group K by 5 points after 3 matches. On the other hand, Albania drew 0-0 with Serbia, and Albania’s Rey Majaj missed a golden chance when he missed a penalty in the first half inhure time.
Meanwhile Serbia, Netherlands and Austria also started their World Cup qualifying campaigns.
Netherlands beat Finland 2-0 in their home ground. Memphis Depay scored in just the 6th minute of the match, and Denzil Dumfries scored the second goal in the 23rd minute. Dumfries has still not forgotten the pain of last week’s Champions League final for Inter Milan – but this time he was celebrating.
Netherlands is now in third position in Group G – just 1 point behind Finland, and 3 points behind leaders Poland – who did not play on Saturday.
Austria also made a strong comeback. Goals from Marcel Sabitzer and Michael Gregoritsch gave them a 2-1 win over Romania. Romania’s Florin Tanase scored a late goal, but it was only a consolation. Romania wasted many chances at the end of the game.
Bosnia-Herzegovina are on top of Group H with 9 points, where Edin Dzeko’s solitary goal was enough against San Marino. Austria, Romania, and Cyprus have just 3 points each.
It has to be said, England got the win, but neither the fans nor the coach were happy. And in the rest of Europe, the qualifying action has just started – but the level of excitement and upsets is quite high!
