Inter Milan defeated Bayern in their own home ground – Inzaghi’s team came out as a mentality monster|

Inter Milan defeated Bayern Munich 2-1 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter final, that too on their home ground – and that too with a last minute winner. This match took place on Tuesday and according to Inter’s coach Simon Inzaghi, this victory was the result of his team’s “strong mentality”. But the work is not done yet – the second leg is still left in San Siro.
Match action – Drama and determination both were found

Bayern also hit the equaliser in the 85th minute through Thomas Muller
But Inter scored the winner just 3 minutes later in the 88th minute – thanks to Davide Frattesi.
This was Bayern Munich’s first home defeat in the Champions League since April 2021 – and that too in front of the fans.
Inzaghi’s post match reaction – “It’s only halftime now”
Coach Inzaghi said: “We have done something important, but until we do it again in the second leg at San Siro, this victory is incomplete.”
He praised the team’s “determination, courage and aggression”. Inter played calm football against Bayern’s pressure, kept possession of the ball and were sharp on counter-attacks.
“When Bayern is with the ball, it is difficult to keep possession. But we showed personality,” Inzaghi said.
Excellent defence – only 3 goals in 11 Champions League matches
Inter’s defence has been very solid this UCL season – only 3 goals have been conceded so far. And holding a team like Bayern at home is no small matter.
Now the real test will be in San Siro
The return leg will be in San Siro next week. Whoever wins, will face Barcelona or Borussia Dortmund in the semifinals. The tension is high, the emotions of the fans are even higher.
