IPL 2025: CSK signed Dewald Brevis – Talent like AB de Villiers is now in Chennai|
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has taken young South African cricketer Dewald Brevis in its team for IPL 2025. Brevis has been taken as a replacement for Gurjapneet Singh. CSK had one overseas slot left, in which they have taken Brevis. Brevis’s base price in the auction was Rs 75 lakh, which CSK has signed for Rs 2.2 crore.
Who is Dewald Brevis?
Brevis is also known as “Baby AB” because his batting style is similar to AB de Villiers. He has not played many matches for South Africa, but his name is already in the limelight. He has previously played IPL for Mumbai Indians and has also played in MLC, SA21.
Brevis’ Record:
He has played 81 T20s, and his strike rate is 145. His strike rate in SA20 2025 minutes was 184.17 which was the highest among the top 10 batsmen. Who has also performed well in domestic cricket for the Titans team.

CSK’s condition:
CSK is still struggling in IPL 2025, only 2 wins have been achieved in the last season. Right now the team is at the bottom spot. Brevis will be the second replacement player for CSK. Before this, the team had signed Ayush Mhatre in place of Ruturaj.
CSK’s next match is against Mumbai Indians on 20 April at Wankhede Stadium. There is a chance of Brevis playing in this match. Mumbai Indians is his old team.
