IPL's smallest debutants: Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke all records|

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a left-handed batsman from Bihar, playing for Rajasthan Royals, made his debut in IPL 2025 against Lucknow Suer Giants – and became the youngest player in IPL history. At the age of only 14 years and 23 days, he set foot on the field, and broke the old record in more than two years. Here is a look at the 6 youngest players who made their debut in 18 years of IPL:

1 Vaibhav Suryavanshi – 14 Years, 23 days

This young talent from Bihar made a place in RR’s playing XI in place of injured Sanju Samson. Vaibhav scored a century in 58 balls against Australia U-19 at the age of 13. He is the youngest centurion of youth cricket. He was bought by RR for 1.1 crore. And he also scored a triple century of 332 runs unbeaten in Randhir Verma Tournament.

2 Prayas Ray Barman – 16 years, 157 days

RCB bought him for Rs 1.5 crore. Just before his debut toss, it was told who is in the playing XI. But in the debut match, he scored 56 runs in 4 overs and his IPL career stopped there.

3 Mujeeb Ur Rahman – 17 years, 11 days

This mystery spinner from Afghanistan played for Kings XI Punjab and took a wicket in the powerplay itself – IBW of Colin Munro on the first ball. 28/2 in 4 overs on debut.

4 Riyan Parag – 17 years, 152 days

The all-rounder from Assam made the youngest IPL fifty in his very first season. Today he is also the vice-captain of RR. His debut match became famous for MS Dhoni’s angry moment with the umpire and Mitchell Santner’s last ball six.

5 Pardeep Sangwa – 17 years, 179 days

He was a U-19 World Cup winner and made his debut in the first season of IPL. He took zero wickets and gave 40 runs in his debut match. He had his best season in 2009, but his IPL journey was not very long.

6 Sarfaraz Khan – 17 years, 182 days

Mumbai’s Sarfaraz made his debut for RCB and a long term investment was made in him. He was retained after a few years, but was released after 2018. Now in 2025, despite being at the peak of red ball form, he did not get an IPL team.
