Jamshedpur FC beat Mohun Bagan 2-1, Javi Hernandez won during injury time|

In the semi-final leg of Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-2025, Jamshedpur FC defeated Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG) 2-1. This match was played at JRD Tata Sports Complex. Jamshedur’s tremendous start

In the first half of the match, Jamshedpur FC played an aggressive game and took the lead in the 24th minute. Javi Siverio and Stephen Eze’s perfect coordination surprised the MBSG defense. Eze gave a tremendous header pass which Siverio easily converted into a goal. Before the MBSG defenders could react, the ball was already in the net and Jamshedpur took a 1-0 lead. Mohun Bagan also tried to make an immediate comeback. Greg Stewart gave a perfect pass to Alberto Rodriguez, but his shot hit the crossbar and the goal could not be scored.

Jason Cummings brought MBSG back with a free-kick

In the 37th minute MBSG got a free kick and Jason Cummings hit a powerful shot and left Bass in the right corner. This was another explosive moment of the season for them. With this goal the score became 1-1. MBSG played an aggressive game in the second half as well and Anirudh Thapa gave a perfect ball to Greg Stewart but Stewart could not score. In the 61st minute Liston Colaco sent a dangerous source for Rodriguez but Rodriguez missed the header. After that Ashish Rai also hit a long range shot but could not score.

Javi Hernandez won in injury time

Jamshedpur FC spent more time in defense in the second half, but made a tremendous counter-attack in extra time. After a perfect pass sequence, Ritwik Das gave the ball to Javi Hernandez in an open space, and Javi hit a powerful shot between the goal posts without any mistake. This goal gave Jamshedpur FC a 2-1 win and gave them a big advantage in the second leg of the semi-final.

Jamshedpur FC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant are going to play the second leg on 7 April in Kolkata. Now it remains to be seen whether Mohun Bagan will be able to make a comeback or Jamshedpur will reach the final.
