Jasprit Bumrah won’t be able to take my smash’: Saina Nehwal tears into KKR star for displeasing remark on badminton
Saina Nehwal recently sparked a sports debate with her remarks on a podcast. She pointed out that while cricket is extremely popular in India, sports such as badminton, basketball, and tennis require more physical effort and are therefore more demanding.
Saina Nehwal’s remarks about the physical demands of different sports led to a reaction from KKR player Angkrish Raghuvanshi. In a now-deleted social media post, Raghuvanshi made a sarcastic comment, suggesting that Nehwal should try facing a fast and challenging ball from Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah to see how she handles it.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi Faces Backlash
Angkrish Raghuvanshi later deleted his controversial tweet but faced significant criticism for his remarks. He subsequently acknowledged making the comment, attributing it to immature humor. Raghuvanshi expressed regret for his actions and apologized for the offensive nature of his post.
In response to the criticism, Saina Nehwal spoke about how both cricket and badminton are tough sports. She said that while cricket can be risky, both cricket and badminton need a lot of skill and hard work. Nehwal stressed that all sports are challenging in their own ways and athletes in any sport need to be very fit. She clarified that her earlier comments weren’t about comparing which sport is tougher overall but rather about recognizing the effort needed in all sports.
