Why did Messi not play in the Inter Miami vs FC Dallas match?

Messi played the full 90 minutes of the first leg of the semifinal against Vancouver, the effect of which was clearly visible on his fitness. Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherono had given a hint in the press conference before the match:

“Messi finished the game well, but obviously there was some fatigue, and playing on synthetic grass increases the fatigue,” Mascherano told ESPN via reports.

The coach also said: “There will be some changes in the team. The next match is very important for us and it is important to come back with a win after the last defeat.”
