MI's playoff charge continues, defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs|

Mumbai Indians further intensified their race for the IPL 2025 Playoffs, when they defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs at the Wankhede Stadium. MI have now reached the provisional second spot. This was MI’s 150th win in their IPL history. Rickelton and Surya’s explosive fifties took MI to 215, and Bumrah’s 4/22, Trend Boult 3/20 showed amazing bowling and gave MI another win in the league stage against LSG.

Where was the game won?

LSG needed 112 runs in 60 balls on the way to chase and Marsh Badoni was set, but Boult’s double strike changed the flow of the match. Boult gave only 9 runs in 2 overs and broke the backbone of the chase.

Mumbai Indians’ story

PowerPlay: 66/1 Mayank Yadav’s comeback was in the spotlight, but MI’s openers stole all the attention. Rohit Sharma hit 2 sixes in Mayank’s over, but was out early. Rickelton sent bowlers like Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishoni across the boundary line. And one over of Digvesh Rathi went for 19 runs.

Middle Overs: 91/3 As soon as Rickelton was out, Surya took the responsibility of batting. SKY completed his 4000 IPL runs by hitting big shots to Mayank and Bishoni, who also got out and now after that with the least number of balls.

Death Overs: 58/3 Hardik Pandya was dismissed by Mayank, but Naman Dhir brought back the tempo by hitting Prince Yadav with two consecutive fours. Corbin Bosch and Dhir both hit well in the end and took MI to 215.

Lucknow Super Giants’ Chase:
PowerPlay: 60/1 Bumrah prepared MI’s protective shield by dismissing Aiden Markram in the very first over. Marsh and Pooran counterattacked, but Pooran hit some big sixes against Deepak Chahar.

Middle Overs: 80/4 Pooran and Rishabh Pant both got out in the same over of Will Jacks. Ayush Badoni showed some resistance, but as soon as he caught the flow, Boult dismissed both Marsh and Badoni, and LSG’s dream ended there.

Death Overs: 21/5 Bumrah dismissed David Miller, Abdul Samad, and Avesh Khan one after the other to demolish the entire lower order of LSG. He missed the hat trick a bit, but his 22 runs in 4 overs took MI closer to the Playoffs.
