Mumbai Indians (MI)’s talent scouting network was once again successful in showing wonders in IPL 2025. In the first match, leg-spinner Vignesh Puthur showed his mettle and now MI’s left-arm pacer Ashwani Kumar won everyone’s heart on his IPL debut!
Ashwani Kumar shook the KKR team!
This match was for Ashwini Kumar’s IPL and MI, but he shook everyone by taking 4 big wickets in the very first match. Due to his amazing bowling, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were all out for just 116.
Having played 2 Ranji Trophy, 3 Vijay Hazari Trophy and 4 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches for Punjab, Ashwini had only 3 wickets to his name in any format. But as soon as he came to IPL, he surprised everyone!
Ashwani was spotted by Mumbai Indians’ talent scouts during Sher-E-Punjab Trophy, where his accuracy in bowling wide balls was liked by everyone. And MI’s decision proved to be absolutely right!
He created a storm with one ball!
When MI’s senior bowlers Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar dismissed KKR’s openers early, their hopes were pinned on captain Ajinkya Rahane.
And then came Ashwin’s magic moment!
On his very first IPL ball, he got Ajinkya Rahane out! Rahane sliced a wide delivery and Tilak Verma caught it in the second attempt.
Double strike in the 11th over – first got Rinku Singh caught at deep point, then bowled Manish Pandey with a powerful delivery.
In the next over, he bowled Andre Russell as well! Russell could not understand a full ball and his wickets were scattered.
