This interior upgrade is a temporary enhancement done to improve the passenger experience.
When will the Full Cabin Makeover happen?
The complete replacement of old seats and dysfunctional in-flight entertainment screens (which are located on the back of the seats) of Boeing 777 has been delayed until 2026. Earlier this process was to start in 2023. The retrofit program (new seats and entertainment system) of Boeing 787 is starting this month. The first upgraded B787 will return to service in October, and then 2-3 planes will be upgraded every month. The upgrade of narrowbody aircrafts has also started. The upgrade of the first A320 neo aircraft was completed last month and the upgrade of total 27 aircrafts will be finished by the third quarter of 2025.
When will the full upgrade be completed?
Air India will complete the light refresh of 13 Boeing 777 aircrafts by December 2024, while the full makeover will be done by 2026. The upgrade of B787 and A320 neo aircrafts is going to be completed soon.
Passengers will now get more comfortable and stylish interiors. How will you rate the new look of Air India?
