Prithviraj Sukumaran said: “Every Malayali is a fan of Mohanlal or Mammootty!|

Actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is directing the movie Empuraan, spoke about the impact of Mohanlal and Mammootty on Malayalam cinema at a promotional event. He said that these two legends are no longer just actors or stars, but they have become a part of the Malayali culture. Prithviraj said,

“There is no Malayali who is not a fan of Mohanlal or Mammootty. We can debate who is better among them, who does comedy better, but no one can say that he is not a fan of any of them.”

Prithviraj’s connection with Mohanlal and Mammootty

Prithviraj, who is the son of late actor Sukumaran, has also worked with Mohanlal and Mammootty in multiple films. Talking about the impact of these actors on his personal life, he said,

“I am in cinema because Mohanlal and Mammootty inspired me. I wanted to talk and walk like them. My father was also an actor, but he was from a different generation. Mohanlal and Mammootty are still dominating in the same way as they used to do earlier.”

Experience of meeting with Rajinikanth

Prithviraj also mentioned his meeting with another Indian superstar Rajinikanth. He said,

“I got a chance to meet Rajinikanth sir a few days ago. I wanted to make a film with him, but it didn’t happen. But when he praised my film Lucifer, I will always remember that moment. I don’t remember how many awards I have won, but I remember all this.”

Prithviraj also mentioned his early days when someone asked him if he would ever direct a film. He said,

“20 years ago, when someone asked me if I would ever direct a film and who would be the star cast, I said Mohanlal and Manju Warrier. And today we are here.”

Empuraan: Lucifer’s Sequel

Empuraan, which is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster film Lucifer, stars Mohanlal and Manju Warrier in lead roles. Apart from this, the film also stars Tovino Thomas, Baiju Santosh, Nikhat Khan, Saikumar, Fazil, Nyla Usha, Abhimanyu Singh, and Sukant Goel.

Mohanlal praised Prithviraj

During the Empuraan trailer launch event, Mohanlal spoke in words full of respect and love for Prithviraj. He said,

“Prithviraj is one of the greatest directors of India. He is going to be a force in the future. This is just the beginning. He lives and breathes for cinema. Otherwise, he is a naughty boy.”
