Rahul Tewatia once again showed his finisher form against Amazing Starc, on top of GT Points Table|

On Saturday in GT vs DC match Rahul Tewatia once again showed his finisher form and gave Gujarat Titans a win against Delhi Capitals. That too in the last over against the deadly bowler of Mitchell Starc.
Last Over of the Match: Tewatia vs Starc
GT needed 11 runs in 7 balls, when Tewatia came to bat at number 5. Starc used to bowl the 20th over, and in the previous match itself he had defended 8 runs in the final over against RR.
Tewatia took a single on the last ball of the 19th over and retained the strike – Josh Buttler was 97 not out. Then Tewatia:
Hit a six on the 1st ball with a slow sweep.
And four runs on the second ball from the inside edge, and the match ended – GT achieved the target of 204 runs with 4 balls remaining and a loss of 7 wickets.
Tewatia’s Reaction: “Watch the ball and hit it”
After the match Tewatia said: “I thought Starc would bowl a yorker, but my plan was simple, watch the ball and hit it. Whatever the ball is, just read the ball.”
Josh Buttler told Tewatia: “Don’t think about my hundred, just play to win the match.” Buttler’s approach gave Tewatia full confidence to finish.
GT’s bowling strategy did wonders
DC had an explosive start and were 105/3 in 10 overs and 163/4 by 16 overs. It seemed that the score would be 220+, but GT came back in the death overs and turned the game around and scored just 203/8. GT’s captain Shubman Gill praised the bowlers and said:
“We were thinking the score would be 230+, but the bowlers did wonders in the final overs.”
Rashid Khan and R Sai Kishore were used smartly. Sai Kishore gave only 9 runs in the final over and also took the wicket of Ashutosh Sharma, his 11th wicket in IPL 2025.

Why was Sai Kishore brought in late?
Sai Kishore was not brought in due to the presence of Axar Patel in the middle overs. But when Ashutosh was hitting the pace, spin was introduced and the strategy was absolutely right.
After this win, GT is on top of the table. 5 wins in 7 matches and a net run rate of +0.984.
