South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron was discovered dead at her home on Sunday, as confirmed by the police. According to a report by Korea JoongAng Daily, she had been preparing for a major comeback, including a name change and a new film project. The report cited a close acquaintance who confirmed her plans.

A friend of Kim spoke to Osen on Sunday and expressed shock at her unexpected passing. “This was something we never imagined could happen,” they said.

They revealed that Kim had been planning to return to acting with the upcoming film Guitar Man, hoping to earn money through acting again. Additionally, she was preparing to open a café while working on her entertainment comeback. “I still can’t believe it,” the acquaintance added.

The friend, who met Kim in the latter half of last year, also shared that she recently changed her name to Kim Ah-im and had plans to relocate. “She showed no signs of distress, and I told her to reach out to me if things got difficult,” they recalled.

Kim had completed filming for Guitar Man in November, and the movie is currently in post-production. The film tells the story of a guitarist who joins an underground band called Volcano.

Kim Sae-ron’s Struggles Following DUI Incident

Kim, who debuted in 2009, had been keeping a low profile after being caught driving under the influence (DUI) in May 2022. During the incident, she crashed into multiple lampposts and guardrails in Gangnam District, Seoul, leading to a fine of 20 million won in April 2023.

Following the controversy, public sentiment turned negative, making it difficult for Kim to secure acting roles. She attempted a comeback with the play Dongchimi last year but had to withdraw due to health issues.
