SRH created a blast in Chepauk, made history by defeating CSK|

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) finally registered their first “away” victory in IPL 2025, and that too for the first time at the Chepauk Stadium against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In a solid performance, SRH stopped CSK at only 154 runs. And SRH won the match with 5 wickets remaining. While SRH’s season had been a struggle till now, this victory will give them a lot of relief. This is CSK’s 4th consecutive defeat in Chepauk.

What was the turning point of the match?

The patience of SRH’s middle order and the Dev factor gave SRH the victory. Nitish and Kamindu Mendis handled the pressure and turned the match in SRH’s favour. When SRH lost 5 wickets, both of them looked cool and hit important boundaries and made the match easy. Mendis also gave a tough fight to CSK in fielding.

CSK Innings: Slow Start, Struggle in the Middle

Powerplay(50/3): Shami shocked CSK by catching Shakeel Rasheed in the slip on the very first ball. Ayush Mhatre hit a few boundaries, but Pat Cummins and Harshal Patel kept CSK under pressure by taking wickets.

Middle Overs(77/3): Jadeja flopped again, while Dewald Brevis and Shivam Dube hit a few sixes to steady CSK. But after Mendis’s catch and Dube’s dismissal, CSK could only reach 154.

Death Overs (27/4): Harshal Patel took 4 wickets to clean up CSK, and SRH got a target of 155.

SRH’s Chase: Started Tight, but Finished Strong

PowerPlay (37/2): Abhishek Sharma out on a duck, Travis Head scored 18 runs, but SRH’s start was slow.

Middle Overs (77/3): Ishan and Aniket Verma made a partnership of 44 runs, and Noor Ahmed and Jadeja took wickets to tighten the match.

Death Overs (41/0): Kamindu Mendis scored 28 runs and Nitish Reddy scored 19 runs to give SRH the win.

Now CSK has a match against Punjab Kings in Chepauk on 30 April and SRH will go to Ahmedabad on 2 May to play against Gujarat Titans.
