SRH suffers a crushing defeat against KKR, Captain Pat Cummins tells where the mistake happened|

After a bad defeat of 80 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins admitted that his team did not give its best performance. This is SRH’s third continuous defeat in IPL 2025, due to which the team will have to rethink its strategy.

Cummins expresses disappointment

After the match, Pat Cummins said that the target was not impossible, but his team missed the chance. “It is not a good time. This score could have been chased, the pitch was also good. But we gave away too many runs in fielding and were also lax in batting” Cummins said. He admitted that SRH will have to rethink their strategy.

“Things did not go in our favour in the 3 matches continuously. We will have to see if we could have taken better options or not. Our batting is best when we play more aggressively, but maybe we should have played a little differently” he said further.

Fielding spoilt the game

SRH’s bowling was not too bad, but fielding mistakes did the damage. “Our fielding was weak. Bowling was good, but we missed some catches and could not stop KKR quickly” Cummins admitted. SRH did not play leg spinner Adam Zampa in this match. Cummins said that the pitch was not spin friendly, so he was kept out. “We bowled only 3 overs of spin, but the ball was not gripping much. That is why we did not include Zampa in the team,” he explained.

SRH started well, but KKR turned the game around

SRH won the toss and decided to bowl first. In the beginning, KKR lost 2 wickets for just 16 runs, but after that Rahane (38), Raghuvanshi (50), Venkatesh Iyer (60) and Rinku Singh (32)*’s powerful batting took KKR’s score to 200/6.

SRH’s batting was very weak

SRH’s team, which came out to chase the target, seemed to be struggling from the start itself. Vaibhav Arora (3/29) and Varun Chakravarthy (3/22) broke the back of SRH’s batting. Only Heinrich Klaasen (33) and Kamindu Mendis (27) could score more than 20 runs and the whole team was all out for 120 runs.

KKR’s Comeback, SRH still in last position

With this win, KKR’s position improved and now they have come to the 5th spot, while SRH is at the last position. Now SRH will have to make big changes quickly to get back on track.
