SRH’s Away Game Jinx: Till now not a single win in away matches|

A matter of concern for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) – till now they have not won a single away match in IPL 2025. On 17 April, their good luck is also working against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. With this, the curse of away matches for SRH has become stronger.
Hero at Home, Zero at Away?
Both the wins of SRH have come on their home ground, and if both were away then they have chased a big target of 286 runs or 246. But the performance in the rest of the matches has been quite inconsistent. In the away match, the situation is even worse. So far SRH has not even crossed the score of 170 on any outside ground.
What is the problem?
SRH openers are aggressive only on home ground, but their approach is not working on away grounds. In Wankhede stadium also they did not give wickets in powerplay, but still did not build momentum. Head made 28 runs in 29 balls. This was his slowest T20 knock. Heinrich Klassen showed firepower in the last overs and overall the innings remained slow. After the arrival of Dew, Mumbai’s chase had become comfortable.
Statement of Coach Daniel Vettori
SRH coach Vettori said after the match: “Nobody has control over the surface. There is a bit of luck too. But we have to adapt.”
He accepted that SRH will have to be better prepared for different pitch conditions – like Chennai and Ahmedabad get slow wickets.
MI Bowlers outclassed SRH
Mumbai Indians bowled smartly and used the slower balls brilliantly – conceded only 36 runs in 30 slow deliveries. Although SRH bowlers also bowled slow balls, they conceded 60 runs. The difference in execution was clearly visible. Bowlers like Bumrah, Boult, and Hardik Pandya made full use of the conditions.
What do SRH need to improve?
They need to stop depending only on flat batting tracks. Scoring has slowed down in the middle overs – where they need strategy and adaptability. And the bowlers too need to execute according to the conditions – like MI did.
