In a thriller match of IPL 2025, Mitchell Starc snatched victory from the hands of Rajasthan Royals with his deadly yorkers and took the match to Super Over for Delhi Capitals. After this, DC made a name for itself in the Super Over.

Turning Point of the Match: Axar and Starc’s Masterplan

DC captain, Axar Patel had thought in the 18th over that Starc will bowl the last over whatever happens. In the match, RR needed only 28 runs in 14 balls, and Nitish Rana set the batter. But then came Starc’s amazing yorker.

First ball – slower one, second short. Then Starc changed the angle and the inswinging ball hit Rana’s foot. LBW out. He was using saliva to reverse swing the ball. Axar said: “Let’s not over complicate this.” It was all about yorkers and Starc is the king.

Starc’s Death Over: Yorker After Yorker

RR needed only 8 runs in the last over. The ball was old and wet too due to dues. But Starc didn’t get surprised, he just showered yorkers. He bowled 5 perfect yorkers out of 6. And RR tied the match. Jurrell took just one run on the last ball, and while trying to steal the other one, he got run out. Starc snatched the victory from RR.

Axar Patel’s Reaction:

“Starc did a great job by bowling 11 out of 12 yorkers and that too with reverse swing. His mindset was clear and he executed it.” Axar said that he kept reminding Starc to “stick to your goal, trust it.” And Starc used to say four times “don’t worry, skip. I’ll do it.”

Starc’s Statement:

“Everyone knows what I am going to do – I will bowl a yorker. But if I execute my plan properly, then that is enough.” He said that a little luck is also necessary.

Nitish Rana gave the credit:

“The pitch was slow, tough for the new batsman. And suddenly the star showed the magic of reverse swing. We have not practised reversing the ball with saliva even in the nets for so long. This was the magic of star’s skill and execution.”
