Teams are still working to restore electricity to thousands of people.
Consumers Energy announced that teams are working to restore power to customers following storms that swept through West Michigan.
In a statement released Wednesday morning, the utility company reported that it had reconnected power to over 25% of the 170,000 customers affected by Tuesday’s storms. The hardest-hit areas in West Michigan include Kent, Ionia, and Montcalm counties.
Over 360 crews are working around the clock to restore power to those still affected, with additional contractors and resources being mobilized to assist in the restoration efforts.
As of around 6 a.m. Wednesday, the following counties had more than 100 Consumers customers without power:
The utility company announced that it will distribute free water and ice starting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Courtland Township Hall, located at 7450 14 Mile Road NE.

Consumers Energy also reminded drivers to give crews ample space and to avoid approaching downed power lines.
