Women’s World Cup Qualifier: Pakistan defeated Ireland by 38 runs|

This match was played at Gaddafi Stadium in which Pakistan women’s team defeated Ireland by 38 runs in the first match of ICC women’s World Cup Qualifier. The match was quite interesting, where the Ireland team collapsed suddenly after a good start.
Pakistan’s Innings – 217/10 (49 overs)
Aliya Riaz scored 52 runs, Sidra Alam scored 51 runs and Sidra shared a 77-run partnership with Muneeba Ali. Jane Maguire gave 33 runs for 3 wickets. Cara Murray and Arlene also bowled well. Pakistan’s team was 175/4 at one point, but in the last overs they lost 6 wickets for just 42 runs. Still they made a decent target of 217.
Ireland’s Innings – 179/10 (44 overs)
Ireland’s players Gaby Lewis scored 44 runs, Amy Hunter scored 44 runs and Orla Prendergast scored 37 runs and fought well.
Ireland had a strong start and reached 96/1, but then everything changed. Diana Baig took 4 wickets and gave 35 runs and Nashra Sandhu took 3 wickets and broke Ireland’s middle order. As soon as Lewis and Hunter were out, Ireland’s wickets started falling. At one time the team was 96/1, but after 6 overs it became 119/4.
Ireland’s collapse
Ireland lost 9 wickets for just 83 runs. Sadia Iqbal got Leah Pal out LBW and then Ireland was all out for just 179. This defeat has given a shock to Ireland, now their next match is against West Indies on Friday.
